Winnipeg based singer/songwriter Don Amero took home the 2011 Western Canadian Music Award for Best Aboriginal Recording of the Year for his album The Long Way Home.

Chalk another award up on the board for Don Amero! Not even a month after taking home the Native American Music Award for Best Folk Recording earlier this month, Don Amero received the honour of Aboriginal Recording Of The Year from the 2011 West Coast Music Awards.

This year's WCMAs took place in Yukon as part of the annual BreakOut West Festival. Don also performed two shows while in the Yukon and played along side artists such as Cris Derksen, Digawolf and a special performance by Hall Of Fame inductees 54-40.

Don Amero is also up for multiple categories at this year's Aboriginal People's Choice Awards to be held in November.
